I was thinking of what to draw last night, while I watched a half hour promo of the making of Tropic Thunder. The were interviewing Jack Black and I thought, “Hmmm, I can pause the TV and draw him.” So I did. Click on the image to enlarge.

I’ve taken down my site so I can redesign it and eventually post new work. The past year or so I lost my creative self as far as design goes.

Illustration has been moving along. Yet design was left behind thanks to my previous job. I worked in a department full of great people. Talented as well but we weren’t really challenged by our inhouse clients. In fact quite the opposite. We were stifled. I formed bad habits and the design part of my brain shriveled up.

So I’ve gone and done a 180 and started working at a design & communications firm. Three weeks in and I’m not doing too well. The good news is that they’re willing to give me a chance. It won’t be easy. Nothing worthwhile is ever easy. I’m ready for the challenge. I’m ready to be passionate about design again. I’m ready to show my new team what I’m made of.

A while ago I illustrated a character named Ira. I kind of liked the final but I wanted to try a different approach with the palette. Here it is (click on image to enlarge).
